Champions League 2026-27 after matchday 3: five clubs on nine points, the top eight gets a clinch line of 22 for the first time and the top 24 line falls to 19
As of the October 22 update. Three of eight matchdays are done. PSG, Aston Villa, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Real Betis have won all three. For the first time, clubs have a clinch number for the top eight: 22 points guarantees it, so the five on nine need 13 more and Stuttgart and Arsenal, on seven, need 15. The top 24 line has moved from 20 to 19. Nobody has clinched anything and nobody is out, and matchday 4 on November 4 and 5, Korea time, cannot change that.

Champions League 2026-27 after matchday 2: the top 24 line falls to 20 points, nine clubs are on six and nobody can clinch the top eight
As of the October 15 update. Two of eight matchdays are done. Nine clubs won both matches, twelve have one point or none, and that split moved the guaranteed top 24 total from 22 to 20. No club has a clinch number for the top eight, and the bottom twelve are out of the competition if they lose all six remaining matches. Matchday 3 is on October 21 and 22, Korea time, and cannot settle anything.

One match of eight is played and every club can still finish first or 36th. Not one club has a top eight clinch number, the survival numbers read 19, 21 and nothing at all, and the only lines the table has drawn so far are tiebreak lines.

Manchester United Champions League last 16 2026-27: three goals over ninth, level on points with 15 clubs
As of the September 11 update, matchday 1 of 8 is played. United are fourth on plus four, the first club outside the top eight is on plus one, and there is no points gap anywhere in the top sixteen. The clinch column does not use goal difference at all. The one number on United's line, 19 more points for a guaranteed top-24 finish, is the same 19 carried by all sixteen clubs on three points.

As of the September 11 update, one matchday of eight. The twelve clubs in 25th and lower have scored seven goals between them and conceded 38. The line above them is not a points gap and not a goal-difference gap: 24th and 25th are separated by a single goal scored.

Twenty two points is where a top 24 finish becomes guaranteed, the 16 clubs that lost matchday 1 top out at 21, and not one of the 36 can be eliminated yet.
