About Clinch

Clinch (cupbracket.com) is an independently run site that computes league standings and qualification scenarios directly from match results. It started with the 2026 FIFA World Cup (its bracket and scenarios stay up as an archive) and now covers the KBO League, MLB, NFL, NBA, F1, K League, KBL, V-League, Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1 and Champions League with the same engine. The goal is to help fans understand, as fast as possible, what is happening right now and what is at stake next.

What we offer

  • ✓Live bracket & standings — the tournament tree and group tables update automatically as results come in.
  • ✓Automatic qualification scenarios — we enumerate every remaining win/draw/loss combination to mathematically determine each team's fate.
  • ✓Original editorial articles — every matchday's results and stories are cross-checked against multiple public sources and written in six languages.
  • ✓Predictions & community — bracket predictions, leaderboards and fan boards.

Data sources & accuracy

World Cup fixtures and results came from the public-domain (CC0) openfootball project, with the operator verifying official results when the feed lagged. The KBO, K League, KBL, V-League and European football leagues are aggregated by us month by month from Naver Sports' public schedule feed; MLB, NFL and NBA data come from ESPN's standings and game data, and F1 from the Jolpica API (the Ergast successor). Standings and scenarios are computed by our own engine implementing each league's rules, and the formulas, assumptions and limits are published.

KBO data — we aggregate it ourselves

Our KBO League standings are not copied from anyone. We collect the public Naver Sports schedule feed month by month and aggregate it ourselves, counting only games between the ten clubs from the regular-season opening day onward (preseason games arrive in the same feed in the same format). Cancelled and rained-out games are excluded from the record but still counted as games remaining. Win percentage follows KBO rules: wins / (wins + losses), ties excluded. Clinch and elimination numbers are our own computation on top of that, and we publish the formulas, assumptions and limits.

Editorial principles

Articles contain verified facts only. Scorers, minutes and records are published only after cross-checking multiple public reports and official results — no speculative rumours, no republishing of other outlets' articles. Computed figures (scenarios, standings) show only numbers reproducible from code.

Update cadence

During a season, league pages re-aggregate results every 10 minutes. During the World Cup, results and the bracket were updated within minutes of the final whistle, with a recap article added every matchday.
