After Jamsil Baseball Stadium: LG and Doosan move to the Olympic Stadium for 2027-2031, 30,000-seat dome targeted for 2032

LG Twins and Doosan Bears leave Jamsil Baseball Stadium after the 2026 season. Seoul Metropolitan Government says the two clubs will play five seasons, 2027 through 2031, in a converted Jamsil Olympic Stadium next door, while a 30,000-seat domed ballpark goes up on the old site. Here is what is officially decided and what is not.

Jamsil Baseball Stadium opened on July 15, 1982, according to the LG Twins' ballpark page, and 2026 is its last season as a KBO home. On July 9, 2024, Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that LG and Doosan would play the five seasons from 2027 to 2031 at the Olympic Stadium inside the Jamsil Sports Complex while a dome is built where the ballpark now stands (OSEN). The decision was made on July 2 that year at a joint task-force meeting of the city, the KBO, both clubs and outside experts.

Jamsil was also what the clubs wanted. Xports News reported that LG and Doosan had pushed for the Olympic Stadium option. The running track and football pitch are being replaced with a baseball field built to the KBO manual, and part of the indoor space is being turned into dugouts and player areas.

The temporary park will hold fewer fans than the current one. In 2024 the city said it would build about 18,000 seats on the first and second tiers, and that once crowd safety was confirmed the third tier could open for big games and the postseason, taking capacity above 30,000. A Seoul Shinmun report in July 2026 was more cautious. It said the park is being built for up to 18,000, that a simulation found 13,000 the best fit, and that crowd flow can be managed up to 18,000. The third tier and outfield stands are not in the base plan and are described only as a possible later expansion. The reason given is that fans have only two ways out after a game. The access routes the city named in 2024 are on the west side toward Bongeun Bridge and on the east side toward Baekjegobun-ro.

The field will be a little smaller. Seoul Shinmun put the fences at 95 m down the lines and 124 m to center, against roughly 100 m and 125 m at the current park. The clubs will keep sharing offices, the indoor practice area and locker rooms as they do now, with LG on the third-base side and Doosan on the first-base side.

There is a construction timeline too. The same report said work on the stands runs from August to December 2026 and interior work in January and February 2027, with a temporary-use permit expected in early January 2027, in time for the 2027 opener.

The dome is a private-investment project. Seoul announced the draft implementation agreement for the Jamsil Sports and MICE complex on March 11, 2026 (Financial News), and said on July 16 that the project had passed the Ministry of Planning and Budget's private-investment review committee. According to Newsis, the domed ballpark will seat 30,000, and the city aims to break ground in the second half of 2026 and finish in 2032. Once the dome opens, the Olympic Stadium is to be restored to its original form (Xports News).

Some things are not officially set. No date has been given for when demolition of the old ballpark starts; Dailian's report on the 2024 announcement said only that it would be torn down after the 2026 season. On the dome, the city's official wording stops at completion targeted for 2032, with no opening date. The final seat count at the temporary park, and whether the third tier opens, will only be settled when the clubs publish their own venue information.

The Jamsil pin on this site's stadium trip map and the team pages reflect the 2026 season. The temporary park will be added before the 2027 opener, once the clubs publish official details. This season's schedules and records for both teams are on the LG and Doosan pages.
