Lazio won 6-2 at Sassuolo on October 28 and beat Cagliari 2-1 on November 1, Korean time. That makes nine wins and a draw from ten matches, 28 points, 24 scored and 8 conceded, and they are still unbeaten. On the same November 1 Inter lost 3-1 at Milan, their first defeat of the season, after winning 2-0 at Venezia in midweek, and they are second on 25. When our previous piece was written the two were level on 22 and nobody had a title number. Inter's ceiling is now 25 plus 84, 109, so Lazio are sure to finish above them at 110, which is 28 plus 82. Of the 84 points Lazio have left, they can drop 2. Inter's title tragic number is 28, Roma's and Como's 27, and Milan's and Frosinone's 26.

Everything here is as of the November 3 update. One hundred of the season's 380 matches are in, and all 20 clubs have played ten and have 28 left, worth up to 84 points each. Round nine ran midweek from October 28 to October 30, Korean time, home side first: Sassuolo 2-6 Lazio, Roma 4-2 Cagliari and Torino 1-3 Como on the 28th, Venezia 0-2 Inter, Parma 0-0 Udinese, Genoa 2-0 Juventus, Monza 1-4 Napoli and Milan 2-4 Bologna on the 29th, and Fiorentina 2-2 Atalanta and Frosinone 5-1 Lecce on the 30th. Round ten ran from October 31 to November 3: Bologna 2-1 Monza on the 31st, Frosinone 2-0 Torino, Milan 3-1 Inter, Lazio 2-1 Cagliari, Udinese 2-5 Roma and Como 1-0 Venezia on November 1, Juventus 2-0 Napoli and Lecce 1-2 Genoa on the 2nd, and Sassuolo 2-4 Fiorentina and Atalanta 0-3 Parma on the 3rd.

The top four line fell from 108 to 106. It sits one above the fourth highest ceiling among a club's rivals, and the highest ceiling below the top four is now fifth placed Milan's 105, where it was Como's 107 before. Lazio's 28 plus 78, Inter's 25 plus 81, Roma's 24 plus 82 and Como's 23 plus 83 all come to 106. Of the 84 points left, Lazio can drop 6, Inter 3, Roma 2 and Como 1. Inter and Lazio could drop 4 before, and Roma's margin went from nothing to 2. Roma beat Cagliari 4-2 and won 5-2 at Udinese, and with seven wins and three draws they and Lazio are the only unbeaten clubs left.

Our previous piece said Roma's and Milan's 90s were every point left, so anything short of a win would end them. Roma won both matches, and their number went from 90 to 82. Milan lost 4-2 at home to Bologna on October 29 and lost theirs. Their 3-1 win over Inter took them to 21 points, but with a ceiling of 105 and all four clubs above them able to go higher, they have no top four number, and their top four tragic number is 28. Como went the other way. They won 3-1 at Torino and beat Venezia 1-0, rising from 17 points to 23, and their tragic number of 30 has become a top four number of 83. Frosinone beat Lecce 5-1 and Torino 2-0 and are sixth on 20, with a tragic number of 28. Juventus lost 2-0 at Genoa but beat Napoli 2-0 and are seventh on 17.

At the bottom, the total every safety number points at fell from 95 to 92. Three clubs go down, so the bar sits one above the third lowest ceiling, and the lowest three are now Venezia on 87, Udinese on 89 and Monza on 91. None of the three has a safety number and all three have a relegation tragic number. Venezia lost 2-0 to Inter and 1-0 at Como, are bottom on 3 points with one win and nine defeats, and their number went from 30 to 27. Monza lost 4-1 to Napoli and 2-1 at Bologna and stayed on 7: the safety number of 88 they held last time is gone, and they have a tragic number of 28 instead. Udinese drew 0-0 at Parma and lost 5-2 to Roma, are on 5, and also now carry a tragic number of 28, every match they have left, as does Monza.

Parma and Fiorentina gained numbers as the bar came down. Last time both were on 4 points with a ceiling of 94, one short of a bar of 95. Parma drew 0-0 with Udinese and won 3-0 at Atalanta, Fiorentina drew 2-2 with Atalanta and won 4-2 at Sassuolo, and both are on 8 with a ceiling of 92, so their safety number is 84, every point left. Sassuolo lost both and are also on 8, and their number went from 87 to 84. If any of the three fails to win next time, a draw already leaves them at 90, below today's bar, and they keep a number only if the bar falls too. Genoa beat Juventus 2-0 and won 2-1 at Lecce to reach 13 points, and their number fell from 88 to 79. Bologna's 4-2 at Milan and 2-1 over Monza took them to 14 and their number from 87 to 78. Seventeen clubs carry a safety number, from Lazio's 64 up to the 84s of Parma, Fiorentina and Sassuolo.

Nothing is clinched or eliminated. None of the six columns shows a zero, and every club can still finish anywhere from first to twentieth. The next round will not change that: after it the widest gap in the table can be 28 points, with 27 matches, 81 points, left for everyone. Round eleven runs from November 7 to November 9, Korean time: Cagliari host Frosinone, Venezia host Udinese and Torino host Lecce on the 7th, Parma host Bologna, Genoa host Milan, Roma host Sassuolo, Napoli host Lazio and Monza host Atalanta on the 8th, and Inter host Como and Fiorentina host Juventus on the 9th. Venezia and Udinese, two of the three clubs with a relegation tragic number, meet each other, and on the 9th Inter and Como, both holding a top four number, meet.

How to read these numbers. A clinch number is the minimum a club must still collect for an outcome to be guaranteed even if every rival wins every remaining match. A tragic number is how many more defeats make an outcome impossible even if the club wins everything else. A reachable range is the highest and the lowest finish still arithmetically open. A rival who can only draw level still counts as a threat to a clinch, while a rival has to finish clearly above a club to eliminate it. Goal difference, head to head records and the league's tiebreakers are not part of the calculation. The table is at, the remaining fixtures at, the qualification and relegation rules at, every club's numbers at and the method at. Club pages: Lazio, Inter, Roma, Como and Milan.
