Ligue 1 table 2026-27 after matchday 7: five clubs level on 14 points, Monaco, Lille and Rennes all lose their top three clinch numbers, and nobody has one left
As of the October 19 update, with matchday seven complete and all 18 clubs on seven matches with 27 left. Lyon, Paris Saint-Germain, Paris FC, Lille and Monaco are all on 14 points. Monaco lost 1-0 at Lorient, Lille drew 1-1 with Brest and Rennes lost 4-3 at Paris FC, so the three top three clinch numbers and Monaco's title number are all gone and no club holds one. At the bottom the line for avoiding automatic relegation fell from 89 to 86, and Le Havre, beaten 3-1 by Auxerre, are still without a win.

A week ago three Ligue 1 clubs held a number that guaranteed a top three finish. Now none does. Monaco, who also held the only title number, lost 1-0 at Lorient on October 19, Korean time. Lille drew 1-1 at home to Brest on the 18th, and Rennes lost 4-3 at Paris FC on the 19th. Our previous piece said that, taking each of those matches on its own, anything short of a win would remove Lille's and Rennes's numbers and a defeat would remove both of Monaco's, and that is what happened.
Everything here is as of the October 19 update. Sixty-three of the season's 306 matches are in, and all 18 clubs have played seven and have 27 left, worth up to 81 points each. The round ran from October 17 to October 19, Korean time, home side first: Le Mans 0-3 Toulouse on the 17th, Angers 2-5 Marseille, Troyes 1-3 Lens, Strasbourg 1-3 Paris Saint-Germain and Lille 1-1 Brest on the 18th, and Lorient 1-0 Monaco, Le Havre 1-3 Auxerre, Paris FC 4-3 Rennes and Lyon 2-1 Nice on the 19th.
The top of the table is now a five-way tie. Lyon beat Nice 2-1, Paris Saint-Germain won 3-1 at Strasbourg and Paris FC beat Rennes, and all three joined Lille and Monaco on 14 points. The order is by goal difference and then goals scored: Lyon first, then Paris Saint-Germain, Paris FC, Lille and Monaco. Rennes are sixth on 13. The five leaders have identical arithmetic: a ceiling of 95, no top three clinch number, no top three tragic number and a line of 72 for avoiding automatic relegation.
Why nobody can clinch the top three now. To be sure of a top three place a club has to finish above all but two of its rivals, and a rival who can only finish level still counts as a threat. Each of the five leaders can reach 95 at most, and so can each of the other four. Four rivals able to match you, for three places, means that even winning every match left does not guarantee a place, so the number is blank. Rennes can reach 94. The title number is blank for the same reason. In the other direction, none of the five can be eliminated by its own defeats alone: an elimination needs rivals clearly above, and no club is above 14 points.
At the bottom the Ligue 1 relegates two clubs directly and the 16th plays a relegation play-off, so the line here is for avoiding automatic relegation, a top 16 finish, not for being safe. That total fell from 89 to 86. The two lowest ceilings are Le Havre's 83 and Troyes's 85. Le Havre lost 3-1 at home to Auxerre, have two draws and five defeats, and are the only club without a win; their relegation tragic number went from 27 to 26, as the previous piece said a defeat would do. Troyes lost 3-1 at home to Lens and carry 27, every match they have left. Sixteen clubs carry a line, from 72 for the five leaders up to 80 for Le Mans, on 6 points.
Marseille won 5-2 at Angers and are ninth on 9 points. Toulouse won 3-0 at Le Mans, Auxerre won at Le Havre, and both are on 9 as well, with Brest, four clubs level in ninth to twelfth. Lorient's win over Monaco took them to 11 and seventh. Nothing is clinched or eliminated and every club can still finish anywhere from first to 18th. The next round cannot change that: after it the widest gap in the table can be 17 points, with 26 matches, 78 points, left for everyone.
The next round runs from October 24 to October 26, Korean time, and four of the five leaders play each other. Monaco host Lille on the 25th and Paris Saint-Germain host Lyon on the 26th, while Paris FC go to Lens on the 25th. In each of those two meetings at most one side can win, and no club outside the five can reach 17 points this round, so after it at most three clubs can be on 17. Rennes host Strasbourg on the 26th, and Marseille host Le Havre the same day. The full list is at.
How to read these numbers. A clinch number is the minimum further points that guarantee an outcome even if every rival takes every point still on its own schedule. A tragic number is the number of further defeats after which an outcome becomes impossible even if the club wins everything else. A blank means no run of that club's own results settles the question. A rival who can only draw level still counts as a threat to a clinch, while a rival who is merely level cannot eliminate a club. Goal difference, head to head records and the official tiebreakers are not part of the calculation.
