Barcelona are no longer unbeaten. Two rounds ago they had won nine from nine, and they now have ten wins and one defeat from eleven matches. On November 1, Korean time, they beat Alaves 6-1 at home, and they have 30 points, 46 goals scored and 12 conceded. The title line is still 110, because Atletico Madrid, who won 2-0 at Levante, can still reach 109. Barcelona need 80 more points from the 81 left on their schedule, so what they can drop has gone from 4 points in our piece two rounds ago to 1. Their lead over Real Madrid, 6 points then, is 3 now, and Atletico are 2 behind.

Everything here is as of the November 3 update. One hundred and nine of the season's 380 matches are in. Eighteen clubs have played eleven and have 27 left, while Athletic Bilbao and Rayo Vallecano have played ten and have one match in hand. The round ran from October 31 to November 3, Korean time, home side first: Levante 0-2 Atletico Madrid and Villarreal 0-1 Espanyol on the 31st, Rayo Vallecano 3-0 Celta Vigo, Barcelona 6-1 Alaves, Real Betis 2-1 Malaga and Getafe 3-1 Sevilla on November 1, Racing Santander 0-3 Real Madrid, Athletic Bilbao 2-1 Real Sociedad and Elche 0-1 Valencia on the 2nd, and Deportivo 2-1 Osasuna on the 3rd.

The top four line fell from 104 two rounds ago to 101. The line has to clear the fourth highest ceiling among a club's rivals, and a rival who can only finish level still counts. The highest ceiling below the top four is still Real Sociedad's, but it is now 100, down from 103, after their 2-1 defeat at Bilbao. One above that is 101, and Barcelona's 30 plus 71, Atletico's 28 plus 73, Real Madrid's 27 plus 74 and Betis's 23 plus 78 all come to it. What each can still drop is 10 points for Barcelona, the same as two rounds ago, 8 for Atletico, up from 5, 7 for Real Madrid, up from 4, and 3 for Betis, up from 2. Betis are fourth on 23 after their 2-1 win over Malaga.

Below the top four, Real Sociedad are fifth on 19 points with a top four tragic number of 26, one fewer than the 27 matches they have left. Sevilla, beaten 3-1 at Getafe, are sixth on 17 with a ceiling of 98. Athletic Bilbao are seventh on 15 and can reach 99 with their match in hand. Nobody but Barcelona carries a title number. The title tragic numbers run from 27 for Atletico and Real Madrid, every match they have left, down to 19 for Malaga. Five clubs sit on 12 points in ninth to thirteenth: Villarreal, Celta Vigo, Alaves, Rayo Vallecano and Getafe.

At the bottom, the total every safety number points at fell from 95 two rounds ago to 92. Three clubs go down, so the bar sits one above the third lowest ceiling, and the lowest ceilings are now Malaga's 86, Valencia's 90, and 91 for both Elche and Levante. Levante lost at home to Atletico, are on 10 points with a ceiling of 91, one short of the bar, and the 88 they held two rounds ago is gone. Elche lost 1-0 at home to Valencia and are also on 10 with no safety number. Neither carries a relegation tragic number: losing every remaining match would leave them on 10, and only 16 clubs are already above that.

Valencia's win took them to 9 points, and their relegation tragic number is 27, every match they have left. Malaga, still without a win after eleven matches, lost 2-1 at Betis and are bottom on 5. Their relegation tragic number is 26. Those two carry the only relegation tragic numbers, as they did two rounds ago, when both were 29. Sixteen clubs hold a safety number, one fewer than two rounds ago, from Barcelona's 62 up to 81 for Espanyol, Osasuna and Racing Santander, all on 11 points. For those three it is every point left on their schedules. Espanyol won 1-0 at Villarreal, while Osasuna and Racing both lost.

Nothing is clinched and nothing is eliminated, and every club can still finish anywhere from first to twentieth. The next round cannot change that: after it the widest gap in the table can be 28 points, with at least 26 matches, 78 points, left for everyone.

The next round runs from November 7 to November 9, Korean time. On the 9th Atletico Madrid host Barcelona, the leaders against the club 2 points behind them. A Barcelona defeat would end their title number, because their ceiling would fall to 108, below Atletico's 109. A draw would keep it, with 0 points to spare if Real Madrid win at Valencia on the 8th and 1 if they do not. A Barcelona win would bring Atletico's ceiling down to 106. At the bottom, Malaga host Racing Santander on the 7th, Valencia host Real Madrid and Elche host Betis on the 8th, and Levante go to Celta Vigo on the 9th.

How to read these numbers. A clinch number is the minimum a club must still collect for an outcome to be guaranteed even if every rival wins every remaining match. A tragic number is how many more defeats make an outcome impossible even if the club wins everything else. A reachable range is the highest and the lowest finish still arithmetically open. A rival who can only draw level still counts as a threat to a clinch, while a rival has to finish clearly above a club to eliminate it. Goal difference, head to head records and the league's tiebreakers are not part of the calculation, and matches in hand are counted as the points they could bring. The table is at, the remaining fixtures at, the qualification and relegation rules at, every club's numbers at and the method at. Club pages: Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid and Valencia.
