The four clubs with a top four clinch number are not the same four as a week ago. Milan beat Atalanta 3-2 at home on October 19, Korean time, moved to 15 points and picked up a number of 93, every point left on their schedule. Cagliari, who had held the fourth number, lost 4-0 at Monza on October 20 and no longer have one. Inter, Lazio and Roma all won and kept theirs. Milan are fourth and Cagliari seventh.

Everything here is as of the October 20 update. Seventy of the season's 380 matches are in, and all 20 clubs have played seven and have 31 left, worth up to 93 points each. The round ran from October 17 to October 20, Korean time, home side first: Frosinone 4-2 Sassuolo and Venezia 1-0 Napoli on the 17th, Roma 2-0 Genoa, Udinese 0-3 Lecce, Bologna 1-3 Inter and Fiorentina 1-3 Como on the 18th, Juventus 0-3 Lazio and Milan 3-2 Atalanta on the 19th, and Monza 4-0 Cagliari and Parma 0-3 Torino on the 20th.

The top four line is the fourth highest ceiling among a club's rivals plus one, because a rival who can only finish level still counts as a threat. Before the round Milan's ceiling was 108, one short of a line of 109. Now the highest ceiling below the top four is Como's 107, after their 3-1 win at Fiorentina, so the line is 108, and Milan's ceiling is exactly 108. Inter's and Lazio's 19 points plus 89, Roma's 17 plus 91 and Milan's 15 plus 93 all come to that total. What Inter and Lazio can still drop went from 3 to 4 and Roma's from 1 to 2. Milan have nothing to spare. Cagliari, on 13 with a ceiling of 106, now have a top four tragic number of 31.

At the top, Inter won 3-1 at Bologna and Lazio won 3-0 at Juventus, so the two are level on 19 points again, each with six wins and a draw. Lazio have conceded four goals in seven matches. Roma beat Genoa 2-0 and are third on 17, with three goals conceded, and Milan are fourth on 15. All four are still unbeaten. Nobody has a title number. Inter and Lazio can each reach 112, so neither can guarantee finishing above the other, and neither has a title tragic number either.

At the bottom, the total every safety number points at fell from 101 to 98. Three clubs go down, so the bar sits one above the third lowest ceiling, and the lowest are now Venezia on 96 and Udinese, Genoa, Fiorentina and Parma, all on 4 points, on 97. Those four lost this round and sit one point below the bar with no safety number, but none of them has a relegation tragic number. Monza's 4-0 win over Cagliari took them from 4 points to 7 and gave them a safety number of 91. Bologna lost to Inter, are on 5, and their number is now 93, every point they have left. Torino won 3-0 at Parma and Lecce 3-0 at Udinese.

Venezia had lost all six of their matches before the round and were the only club without a point. They beat Napoli 1-0 on October 17 and have 3 points. Their ceiling is 96, two short of the bar, and their relegation tragic number is 31, the only one in the league and every match they have left. Nothing is settled at either end. Every club can still finish anywhere from first to twentieth, and the next round cannot change that: after it the widest gap in the table can be 19 points, with 30 matches, 90 points, left for everyone.

The next round runs from October 24 to October 26, Korean time. Napoli host Roma and Inter host Fiorentina on the 25th, when Lazio host Parma and Genoa host Venezia. Milan go to Udinese on the 26th, the day Lecce host Juventus. Milan's 93 and Bologna's 93, who go to Cagliari on the 24th, are both every point left, so anything short of a win ends them, and whether a smaller number appears depends on the other results.

How to read these numbers. A clinch number is the minimum a club must still collect for an outcome to be guaranteed even if every rival wins every remaining match. A tragic number is how many more defeats make an outcome impossible even if the club wins everything else. A reachable range is the highest and the lowest finish still arithmetically open. A rival who can only draw level still counts as a threat to a clinch, while a rival has to finish clearly above a club to eliminate it. Goal difference, head to head records and the league's tiebreakers are not part of the calculation. The table is at, the remaining fixtures at, the qualification and relegation rules at, every club's numbers at and the method at. Club pages: Milan, Cagliari, Inter, Lazio and Venezia.
