- 2.After the split, every club in the top six finishes above every club in the bottom six.
- 3.The leading clubs take the AFC Champions League Elite and Two places (the Korea Cup winner also qualifies; the number of places can change by season).
- 4.The bottom club is relegated to K League 2, and the club above it plays a promotion-relegation playoff.
