The safety bar fell from 100 to 99: Bournemouth and Tottenham won and gained a safety number, while Nottingham Forest and Sunderland lost and lost theirs. Nothing is clinched or eliminated.

Chelsea went into round seven without a top four clinch number. On 10 points they shared a ceiling of 106 with Brentford and Everton, and those three ceilings were what set the line at 107. On Saturday, October 17 they won 2-0 at Everton, and the same day Brentford lost 2-1 at home to Liverpool. Chelsea now have a number of 93, every point left on their 31 match schedule. Our previous piece said Chelsea would get one by winning at Everton as long as Brentford did not beat Liverpool, and that is what happened.
Everything here is as of the October 20 update. Seventy of the season's 380 matches are in, and all 20 clubs have played seven and have 31 left, worth up to 93 points each. The round ran from October 17 to October 20, Korean time, home side first: Everton 0-2 Chelsea, Fulham 1-0 Hull City, Brentford 1-2 Liverpool and Manchester City 3-2 Ipswich on the 17th, Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland, Leeds 1-1 Manchester United, Brighton 5-0 Crystal Palace and Newcastle 0-1 Aston Villa on the 18th, Nottingham Forest 0-1 Arsenal on the 19th and Tottenham 3-1 Coventry on the 20th. The next round starts on October 24.
A top four line has to clear the fourth highest ceiling among a club's rivals, and a rival who can only finish level still counts as a threat. Before the round the highest ceilings below the top three were 106 apiece, Brentford's, Everton's and Chelsea's. Brentford and Everton lost and are down to 103, level with Leeds. Chelsea won and are up to 106, and the highest ceiling below them is now Liverpool's 105, after the win at Brentford. One above that is 106, and Manchester City's 21 points plus 85, Arsenal's 18 plus 88, Brighton's 16 plus 90 and Chelsea's 13 plus 93 all come to it. What each can still drop went from 7, 4 and 2 to 8, 5 and 3 for the first three, and Chelsea start at nothing. Liverpool, fifth on 12 points, have no number and a top four tragic number of 31.
The title line did not move. Manchester City beat Ipswich 3-2, have seven wins from seven and 21 points, and need 91 more. That is still a finishing total of 112, because Arsenal won 1-0 at Nottingham Forest and can still reach 111, so City have exactly 2 points to spare, as before. Brighton, 5-0 winners over Crystal Palace, top out at 109. Nobody else carries a title number. Arsenal's title tragic number is 31, every match they have left, Brighton's 30, and the shortest in the table is 26, shared by Fulham, Nottingham Forest and Sunderland.
At the bottom, the total every safety number points at fell from 100 to 99. Three clubs go down, so the bar sits one above the third lowest ceiling in the division, and the three lowest are now Sunderland on 97 and Fulham and Nottingham Forest on 98. Bournemouth beat Sunderland 2-0 and Tottenham beat Coventry 3-1, and both moved from 3 points to 6 with a ceiling of 99, so both now carry a safety number of 93 and neither has a relegation tragic number any more. Coventry, also on 6, kept theirs, which is now 93 as well. For all three that means winning every match left. Our previous piece said Bournemouth would get a number by winning unless Tottenham won, Aston Villa avoided defeat at Newcastle and Forest avoided defeat against Arsenal all at once, and that Tottenham needed a win plus one of three other results. Forest lost, so both got one.
The other side of the same move. Sunderland lost at Bournemouth, are bottom on 4 points with a ceiling of 97, and their 96 is gone, as the previous piece said a defeat would do. Nottingham Forest lost to Arsenal, are on 5 with a ceiling of 98, and lost the 95 they had. Fulham beat Hull City 1-0 and moved to 5, but their ceiling is also 98, one short of the bar, so they still have no number. Those three now carry the only relegation tragic numbers, 31 each, every match they have left. Seventeen clubs hold a safety number, from Manchester City's 78 up to 93 for Bournemouth, Tottenham and Coventry.
Nothing is settled at either end. No club has a zero in any of the six columns, and every club's reachable range still runs from first to twentieth. The next round cannot change that. After it the gap between the top and the bottom of the table can be at most 20 points, while every club will still have 30 matches, 90 points, to play for, so no club can yet be certain to finish above or below any other.
The next round runs from October 24 to October 26, Korean time. Aston Villa host Manchester City and Arsenal host Everton on the 24th, when Coventry also host Fulham. On the 25th Liverpool host Brighton, and Chelsea host Tottenham. That match puts two numbers of 93 against each other, Chelsea's for the top four and Tottenham's for safety, and each is every point its club has left. A Chelsea win ends Tottenham's 93, a Tottenham win ends Chelsea's, and a draw ends both. Whether a smaller number appears in its place depends on the other results. Bournemouth, also on 93, go to Manchester United the same day.
How to read these numbers. A clinch number is the minimum a club must still collect for an outcome to be guaranteed even if every rival wins every remaining match. A tragic number is how many more defeats make an outcome impossible even if the club wins everything else. A reachable range is the highest and the lowest finishing place still arithmetically open. On ties, a rival who can only draw level with a club is still counted as a threat to it, so our clinch can trail an official announcement by a day, while in the other direction a rival has to finish clearly above a club to eliminate it. Goal difference, head to head records and the league's own tiebreakers are not part of the calculation. The table is at, the remaining fixtures at, the qualification and relegation rules at, every club's numbers at, the method at, and a single club's lines on its own page, such as Chelsea's or Tottenham's.
